So I put in my two week notice at this bar I worked at. It was the shittiest place ever.
>Moldy ceiling tiles
>When it rained moldy water dripped on the meat cutter
>mold water dripped in the sweet tea
>Shit management
>constant money stealing from the owner
>etc
They got mad at me for putting in my two weeks and now they're withholding my paycheck when I tried to pick it up the other day. Now they're saying they are going to send it in the mail
>fuck that
>probably going to get "lost" in the mail
What do? Should I take them to court in a week if my check isn't in the mail?
>Any lawyers or law majors?

bump with malcom in the mid

theyre not sending it in the mail if they cant afford to lose a worker and repair that ceiling. you cant get a lawyer yet all you can do is have their word and wait for them to fuck up then sue them.

Look up your local laws on workers rights. There should be signs posted at your work. If not its just a quick search of "workers rights (insert state)".
This will lead to a contact number. Call them and explain your situation. Meaning your check. Don't tell them about ceiling tiles. They dont care and its irrelevant to your situation.
If you have any receipts from work that show you as logged in that would help any "case" you might need to make in the future.
To answer your "check mail week" question. Again look up your local laws. There are laws that dictate how long an employer has to send payment for work. If they go beyond that threshold then they could get fined.
Google is your friend. /thread

The amount the paycheck is it wouldn't be worth getting a lawyer. I was thinking more of claims court

Is this the first job you've had or something? It's pretty standard in most states for your last paycheck to be mailed unless you quit on the spot like the day before paychecks are sent to the store or something. Companies don't want you coming to "work" to pick up your check when you don't actually work there.
