how do i know if what i feel is love?
i have a boyfriend who i have been with for about 5 months now. he treats me like a princess, provides for me, and is about as perfect as any boyfriend could be. i am in no way a good gf however, because i am whiny, irritable, and diagnosed bipolar for genetic reasons because of my dad being bipolar.
anyways, people talk about being absolutely enamored with their significant other and wanting to spend every waking second with them, do everything with them, etc. i am not that way at all. in fact, a lot of the time i would rather do things with my friends than him. however, when i think of not being with him or him leaving me or something i almost break into tears and immediately go to him to talk and make sure hes ok and we are ok and stuff like that.
how do i know if this is what love is?

theres no real definition of love, not one that could help you decide. everyone and every culture has different ideas about what makes it REAL love.
people who want to spend every waking moment with their significant other are GENERALLY using them as a mask so people can't see how empty they are.
soem are legitimately just a great combo with their partner (these tend to be the few that actually survive years and years of dating)
but some people, no matter how much they love someone are sitll independent, and at the very least enjoy spending time with their friends.
you might be that. you might love your bf as much as you could, but that doesn't mean your life revovles around him. love does not mean spending every waking moment on them
