English isn't very strictly enforced, which results in people slowly just assimilating into speaking in the same manner as the company they keep. I had a similar thing happen last summer. Friend tried to set me up with another friend. She didn't like me because in her words I was an "Oreo", which is funny because I am actually mixed race but ignorant people think I am "black" all the time.

I've had other girls crush on me because I "look like Drake" or some shit. They get turned off when I don't act thuggish and speak "ghetto" or whatever.

It is annoying as hell and kind of sad. This is typical of dating in general though. People are attracted to your appearance and fill in the blanks based on said appearance.
