I think the best way to do it is to physically go to city you are applying to and interview there.

Gotta give us more details than that.

I'd love to do that, but I only have $800 bucks and it's 18hrs away by car.

What would you like to know?

Get those lips warmed up, that throat loosened, and those knees limbered because you've got a lot of dick to suck.

The basics?
Like, what you majored in, do you have prior work experience, any contacts, are you in a rural state, etc etc. Basic information that can help determine what you are capable of and what your reasonable expectations might be given your context.

>nope (have reasons)

I'm not expecting someone to give me some cushiony $40k job just for applying. I want to move to Seattle area to either go into tech or finance. Plus housing is a lot cheaper (obviously not in Seattle itself).
I didn't work summers/intern because I switched my second year and spent the rest of the time taking summer classes and making sure I graduated on time. In retrospect I should have interned/worked while I stayed an extra year, but can't fix that.
Oh I need to move because I'm getting kicked out and rent is surprisingly expensive here, especially considering the jobs that pay above poverty levels require at least an hour commute.
The plus side is my long term gf will be with me so rent will be half.
