How do I solve this?
The answer is 100 but I don't know how to do the square root thing.
>>17535747
square both sides
multiply the top together
reduce fraction
square root of both sides
>>17535757
what does it mean to square both sides?
>>17535765
It means you make Q^2 and get rid of the square root
>>17535777
>make Q^2 and get rid of the square root
what does that mean?
>>17535747
(2 * 50 * 200) / 2 is equivalent to 50 * 200 (the two that is being divided into the top will cancel the two on top).
50 * 200 is 10,000, and the square root of 10,000 is 100.

To square something means to multiply it by itself.
5^2 (pronounced "five squared") means the same thing as 5x5. Which is 25.
5^3 (pronounced "five cubed)" means the same thing as 5x5x5. Which is 125.
Dunno why you guys are telling him to square both sides. You can just solve it simply
q = root ((2*50*200)/2)
q = root ((100*200)/2)
q = root ((20000)/2)
q = root (10000)
q = 100

Because his teacher probably won't teach him that way and to reinforce the "do to one side what you do to the other concept"
