Doesn't look bad to me. Once it's shaded it will look better OP. Right now it's just an outline like you said, so every little thing Is way more noticeable

I would certainly draw it out on paper and try different fill-in combinations , but I think filling inthe big cross in black or red may look good.

eh it looks fine. I wouldn't fill it in. If you ever do try to remove it it will be easier. I got a cross on my arm. It has a lot of black in it. I tried removing it and its pretty stubborn.

Gold outline with dark red fill would've been nice. You can do a white fill with black outline, will look decent.
