my job lets me read in between calls. if you work really late or during slow hours you can get some good reading in. or even if it is mostly busy it adds up

911 dispatch. I read books and play pokemon most nights. Of course, there is the sudden stress of a life or death situation to deal with out of nowhere, but you get used to it, and there's probably 5 minutes of down time for every minute of work. And that's in a big city. Rural dispatch, shit, I wonder of they ever stop reading.
