I read online that you can detect bug bed infestations by finding dark spots or copper colored marks on your mattress/box spring/whatever. Does this look like it would be from bed bugs? I've had this mattress for years so there's no telling what else it might be.

It looks like water damage. Do you use a mattress protector underneath your sheets? Do you change them regularly? Is your room damp?

It's hard to tell from the picture but that's the side of the mattress (the mattress is laying on its side). Regardless, I'd feel a lot better about it being water damage or rust stains than fucking bed bugs.

Bed bug stains tend to be darker and look more like tiny splotches creating a big one. They also create holes. You'd see some too.

It looks like water damage or piss. Bedbug stains are small, not large like yours.
