Hey guys, not entirely sure where to put this thread but fuck it lets try here...
Okay so basically I'm looking for a new laptop, nothing extremely fancy but I'm a bit of a retard when it comes to computer systems, particularly hard drives and shit.
Anyway
1. Yes, it has to be a laptop for college I'm bringing it to my classes
2. No I don't want a MacBook or anything Apple
3. My budget is capped at $1,500 USD
As for the details of the system, I'm not insanely picky but I want something with a good core processor, and definitely a nice graphics card. Despite needing this for school, I obviously game and need something better than my shitty old Intel that can't even run mine craft lmao.
I don't play huge storage-hoarding games, however I do want something that can efficiently multi-task and run steam and Java programs / games.
Tl;Dr: Budget of $1,500, need a laptop for school / gaming. Decent storage size, good processor, good graphics card.

You can't have something that's good for school AND gaming. Pick one or the other as a priority. If gaming is that important to you, get a PC rig and use pen and paper to take notes in class.

Regardless desktop is out of the question. The school factor doesn't matter to me much lol I already have another laptop I could use for school. All I really need to the ability to run Microsoft office lol

Umm, lets see. Almost all laptops in your price range will more than satisfy your needs. I would say in general that whatever stats your gpu and cpu claim that the benchmark is the only way to compare them:https://www.cpubenchmark.net/
For example i bought an 8 core amd that was worse than 6 core intels out there.
1) Make sure you get an intel cpu
2) Nvidia is preferential because of the update support but unless you run linux most any gpus are fine so long as you check on the benchmarks
3) Make sure you have at least 8 gigs of ram if not more, and if you like to have many programs open at once 16gb+ ram may be necessary.
4)For hard drives i really dont know what is in the market at that price, but if you can find one with both solid state and hard disk drive. Solid state is hugely faster but expensive too. It is good for boot up files, as your computer starts really fast and leave the regular files for HDD. Also you should be getting at the very least 500gb total if not upwards of 2tb
Beyond that everything is fairly standardized. It is up to you for screen size, cd-drive, etc... With prebuilt computers you'll have to find a handful that fit these categories and then compare individual components with the website given.

Well shit, i just went through all of this. If you have a computer for school then build a desktop rig for gaming. You can get more than twice the value in a desktop than a laptop in terms of overall gaming and processing power..
