basically im socially retarded and have been all my life. It almost seems as if my thoughts are trapped in my mind and i cant seem to convert them into actual conversation

alcohol helps somewhat but obviously i cant get drunk all the time.

aside from getting out and talking to people all the time, which i try to do already, is there any way to improve my shitty social skills

as autistic as it sounds i guess im looking for books or articles that deal with conversation and social situations

Buck up buttercup, but the only way to do it is to get actual interaction. After a while you'll become more comfortable, and you'll learn what is and isn't socially acceptable. You'll get there, just keep at it.
