Should I retake my SAT?

Fucking shit, my GPA was something like a 2.8 UW from a college preparatory boarding school, by the way.

Your scores look like those of a person who never gave a shit. Good schools want to accept people who give a shit. A high SAT score can make up for a low HS GPA, b/c admission officers understand that, for some smart kids, high-school seems dumb and pointless. Study for and retake your SAT, focus heavily on the Math score if you want to go STEM. Be willing to put time in (1 or 2 years) at either a community college or a state school satellite campus (like UW-Tacoma), and earn your way into the flagship school.

You can get away with a low SAT if you have a high GPA - it shows that, while you may be shit at standardized tests, at least you give a shit. I used to work at the Honors College at a Big 10 school. I know what I'm talking about. They don't care about what you did between HS and college. They just want to see that you did something, rather than nothing. Flipping burgers > mom's couch.

Not gonna lie it will be incredibly tough to get into a 4 year with that SAT score, given that you have been a NEET for 3 years. You'd have gotten into a school just out of high school, though obviously you never finished.

So, if your grandma will pay for it, yes take the SAT again and study your ass off for it. Second, apply to schools anyways, assuming your grandma will pay for admission fees. Third, if you do not get in then go to community college. Do well in your courses and show that you can work in an academic environment and know your shit. Then transfer to a four year for you final 2-3 years. If need be get a job, you can likely afford community college, until your grandma pays for the 4 year when you transfer.

You'd have to get like a 1400/1600 for them to give you a pass. It'd show enough improvement that it'd nullify your 3 year old GPA/SAT. that'd be equivalent of a 2100/2400 which is pretty good.
