Recently my friend has been really upset. She was chilling with me at my house and she started talking about it. I tried to cheer her up. Keep in mind she's pretty religious, so I was trying my best. I'm not very tactful or good at talking peolle down , so I just acted upon what popped in my head. I basically told her "well there's always the afterlife so you can look forward to that". Did I mess up!? I mean in many religions there's the great promised afterlife...

AFAIK pretty much every religion has some sort of thing saying you don't get the super awesome afterlife package if you get there by suicide.
Plus, if someone decides to commit suicide, it's still their decision no matter what you said to them.
