Yes. Go to a fancy hipster restaurant in manhattan, Brooklyn, or Queens, and AVOID Times Square. Seek out comic book shops and hipster art spaces, as well as major art museums. Consider checking out UN stuff. Look up what concerts are happening. Brooklyn, Queens, and Manhattan will likely have the most interesting things to check out, but also check to see if anything neat is happening in The Bronx. There is no reason why you should ever go to Staten Island, it's lame and there are some dangerous shaolin.
