Twice now I have been making food, and for whatever reason, there was an unusual amount of smoke produced that set off my fire alarm right in the living room. I've never really dealt with this before, as this is my first house, and I have no idea how to prevent or stop this.
I managed to turn it off each time, but I don't really know how I did it. If someone could explain to me the fastest way of making this alarm stop after it has started, I would really appreciate it.
Picture is basically my alarm, btw.

Use your fan in your kitchen that sucks the air to the roof. Or open your door whenever you're cooking. The alarm will only set off if the smoke is dense.
The alarm in my place looks exactly like that. Mine turns off by pressing the button on the right when it's beeping.
Depends on where you live. Most states have building regulations where the smoke detectors are hard-wired into your house, so there's no easy way to shut them off, and if one goes off they all go off. My friend has that and it's hilarious. Otherwise just rip it from the ceiling and pull the battery out.

>big ass button that says PUSH TO HUSH
>hurr durr guys how does it stop
You push the button to stop it.
When you are cooking put a plastic bag over it. Just remember to remove it when you're done.
