Let's talk cover letters!
I have always sucked at writing them. I think the biggest roadblock that comes with writing a cover letter is trying to write a short story about yourself and your relevant experience to get a job, but knowing deep down how trash you really are. This is probably the only thing that holds me back from sending out more job applications on a daily basis (aside from credentials).
How do you guys overcome these issues when you're applying for jobs?
my advisor helps me write them
no interviews after 8 applications though

I feel your pain, man.

I used cover letters I found online as templates and edited them. After three rejections, I finally got hired. The trick is to not try too hard writing a cover letter. Make everything simple and to the point. The same goes for resumes. I once looked at the resume of one of the senior workers in the company that I'm now working for. It was even more barebones than the one I used.

This. I recycle parts of old cover letters a lot. There was one job I got a callback from and it was 90% the same cover letter as another job I'd applied for.

What job field are you applying for? If its something specific then this is understandable.
But if you're just looking for entry level work wherever you can then you better be pumping out 8 applications per DAY.
