Hey /adv/ i just switched from cable to wifi on my stationary pc due to moving it. (currently using a TP-link ac 1200) And i've noticed how my ping/download is the exact same as before. But i have this annoying drop in speed every 10 or so seconds that makes it impossible to watch videos or play games.
Downloading is annoyin aswell, as i see the speed just collapse and re adjust itself every 10 seconds.
Any techfags know why this is, is this just what having to rely on wifi is like?
get local providers. i made this mistake from getting an isp 400 miles away and even tho it was good internet, 800 fucking ping wasnt.

I can't call it for sure but my guess would be that it's an issue with either your wireless adapter if you are using a USB one or the motherboard if you have onboard shit. It could also be your router. Check and make sure all your drivers are up to date. If you have a laptop of something else you can connect wirelessly connect it and see if it stops with it too. If it does then the issue is your wireless router and you just go from there. It's not your ISP since it worked find with a Ethernet cable.

Could be interference. Do a scan to see if most of your neighbours are using same channel as you. If yes then switch your channel and see if that helps. Of course best option is to always use ethernet.
Anyone know of any good ISPs in SoCal? Don't wanna go with TWC, charter, verizon etc. Just looking for decent speeds at a reasonable price without having to bundle any shit like home phone or tv.
