Is this a credible way of dealing with stress?

Yes.
I'm guessing you refer to shit like yoga and meditation as non-credible.
just don't fall for the memes ^
Do sports regulary!
Have sex regulary!
Eat good food regulary!
On the chart, yes, on the field, no.
Worrying is overthinking. Thinking about not thinking is still thinking. In turn it'd be easier to just learn meditation and get a grip over your mind.
It's what I use, more or less.
>is there a problem?
no, don't worry then
yes, can you fix it?
-no, then deal with it
-yes, then fix it or shut up
Alternatively,
>worry about x
>ask self what the worst that can happen is
>"Am I gonna die? No? Then it's fine."
It's gotten me through a lot.
Stress results between a balance of demand and resources
Demand is the pressures life places on you (paying bills, important presentations)
Resources are the things at your command to meet demand (training, money, time, practice)
Stress occurs when demand is high and resources are low. Look at what the situation is demanding of you. Do you need more sleep? More practice or training? More time to finish projects? Once you recognize the key resource that you lack, then you can better anticipate the next demand that comes along.
The best place to be is high demand and high resources, since a lot is being asked of you but you're equipped to handle it, resulting in feelings of fulfilment
