Doesn't help that I'm fluent in Japanese yet Asian women think I'm some weird otaku white guy with an Asian fetish... How do I go about making friends? I'm not looking to be loved just accepted and respected.

You have nothing to complain about.
But seriously, take advantage of the hand outs when you can and realize that these only help you to reach your full potential. You'd be surprised there's some stereotypical white middle class looking fucks that heavily rely on scholarships/student financial aid to get through college. Besides, all that matters is how you emerge on the other end.

Prioritize your own financial and professional life above the nebulous task of "finding love". If you find a girl, great. If you don't, oh well. Don't force it. If it happens, it happens. Throwing away opportunities, or chances to make your life easier so that you're not "defined" by them is ridiculous.
