Has anyone here gotten Lasik and can tell me about their experience?
It was the most terrifying thing I've ever had to do because I don't like shit near my eye but it is also the best thing I've ever done

Did you use contacts before or just glasses? I used to be unable to touch my eyes until I forced myself to get comfortable with it because of contacts. I'm hoping it's not too bad because of this.

Just glasses. If you can touch your eye, you'll be fine. I couldn't touch my eye and they had to give me extra sedatives because of how stressed I was.

I know this stuff varies but I'm looking for a ballpark: What'd it cost for you? How long to recover? Any side effects? Do you get any halos caused by lights in low-light or anything like that?

Well I'm an Ausfag and it cost me $6000
Recovery was almost instantaneous, but you'd be better off doing the actual surgery late in the day. Easier to try and fall asleep for the recovery. You can basically go out and do things the very next day as long as you don't touch your eyes.
Its been over a year and ive had no side effects or really intense halos. You just have to follow a simple treatment plan for a month.

What was your treatment plan? Eye drops and a check up?
Do you know if you have any assurance plan? I.e. will they correct your vision if it starts failing again?

holy shit thats a lot of money
Glasses are sexy baby, unless u look like an elephant

Everything in aus is a lot of money. But they're paid a ton more on average too. Min wage for instance is $17.70

Sorry for late replies I've been at work all day.
For the first day 3 sets of eye drops an hour and then the same 3 sets 3 - 4 times a day for a month(?) You'd have to wear goggles whilst you sleep for a good week or so too so you don't knock your eyes. Also periodic check ups.
If your eyes deviate within the first 5 years, you get a correction session for free.

We still get charged a ridiculous amount of things from cost of living to luxuries. The higher minimum wage doesn't help. When I built a new computer, the parts in America only cost me $1200 but when I compared to here, it jumped up to $2100
