Trying to make new friends when you're in a completely new area with no other contacts you know is outstandingly tough. You just have to keep going out and being active at anything that interests you really. The only problem is there's a high likelyhood that even if you hit it off and think you're making new pals, nothing will come of it and that number/friend request just kinda fades away after a few weeks.

It's even worse with girls.

Either way, listen buddy. I've been single for the last 20 years of my life, but based on other's advice to me I can at least say this: engage people. Make the first move, say something, DO SOMETHING. It leaves a far more lasting impression.

Age has nothing to do with it. Getting a girl out in the "real world" after highschool/uni is simply not a fucking simple or easy task. Most 4ever alone types just can't face this reality. They're 4ever alone because life didn't work out so smoothly for them during/after highschool or uni, and now they're behind in the race that is life, refusing to put in the colossal amount of work it takes to get to the point where a half decent girl is even going to look at you once you're out in the "real world."

To qualify for a relationship with a halfway decent girl post-highschool/college you MUST HAVE ALL of the following:
>1. Independence/Financial autonomy: you absolutely cannot be living at home with mommy. You have to be in complete control of your own schedule/environment. You have to have your own car and apartment/condo/house.
>2. Looks: No you don't need to be an adonis, but you simply cannot be a chubby, greasy, or skinnyfat slob. You have to know how to dress yourself and give a shit about your appearance.
>3. (perhaps the most important) FUCKING FRIENDS. Lots of em. Girls want nothing to do with a loner who has zero social standing in the world. Period. Not having friends/social life drives girls away like the plague.

If you don't have all of the above then the best you can get for a gf is single mom or some unstable bipolar bottom of the barrel bitch that no decent guy wants to deal with. The mating game is a harsh reality where the weak are weeded out, and most people on the internet don't want to tell it you to straight like that because they can't hack themselves.

If you have exceptionally good looks, you can probably get by with ONS from club sluts and what not, but AGAIN: no girl will ever want to emotionally invest in you unless you have some social standing and resources (financial independence) as well!

I want to say girls have it easier, which they kinda do, because my personal experience tells me that I all actually need is the social standing. At first, the guys do look for looks, but many eventually settle for an ugly or average-looking (trophy) wife with good social standing and possibly good educational qualifications (job experience optional, but her edu qualifications are vital for their social reputations and the education of their children, apparently). Social standing is also the trait I lack the most.

It's exasperating how everyone, both male and female, loves to pretend they are all that "I don't give a fck about others, I'm my own person" sort of cool, individualistic type, who wouldn't care about the social standing of their partners. I think some lawyers do function in a sufficiently necessary role for society, but most end up just crunching dry, mindless, routine paperwork (heck UK's governmental law clerks make minimum wage). And that's after having endured a few years of hellish internships (with such an oversaturated and competitive market, the employers can treat them like shit). A portion (but not all) of law students are also the overly competitive, ambitious, self-centered types, again not all, but enough to dampen the field of law for me
