I know we have this thread all the time, but I've fallen into a depression and need to start doing something.

What are your hobbies, /adv/?
>>
watching chinese cartoons
playing videogames
programming
lifting heavy weights
reading (mainly fantasy)
>>
Drawing, video games, crafts (right now mostly jewelry making). Getting into hiking and exercising.

I'm not good at any of my hobbies, but they're still satisfying.
>>
videogames and excercise
>>
>play vidya
>lift weights
best of both worlds. You get to be a nerd, and you get to look good doing it.
>>
>>17431212

- drawing (check out /ic/, good for super beginners. LOOK @ the sticky)

- exercise

- reading literature

- composing music

Video games are NOT a hobby, any more than watching reality TV is a hobby. Video games aren't bad in moderation, in fact I'd say they're good in small doses. I played virtually zero games for a year between ages 19 and 20, and when I hit 20 I ended up binging on games for 2 months. Now I spend a healthy 30 mins a day on games and have time for actual hobbies without feeling too depressed. Game withdrawal is REAL, and after not playing any for a year, you will break down and feel totally disconnected from your inner child. Play an hour or more a day and you're a waste of space and a loser with no drive, with few exceptions. Play responsibly.

>30 minutes a day
That's like the warm-up match my nigga.. what the fuck are you doing?
>>
>>17431714
>what the fuck are you doing?

having a real, meaningful life where I can look back on my use of time with a fondness, for starters
>>
>>17431727
giving neets advice on an anonymous forum is better than video games?
>>
>>17431743

So you're going to attack me for trying to give advice to someone in my free time, since I posted a question here earlier, and felt like helping someone out while I'm here? Perhaps you should explain why spending hours a day on video games is acceptable behavior.
>>
>>17431749
shit nigga, it's your free time just like it's mine, do what you want.

I work my 40, I do my laundry, I do my shopping, I wipe my ass, and fuck my girlfriend, and you best believe when I get that free time to crack down on some Xbox, that's exactly what I'm doing and it's completely acceptable behavior because I work for it.
>>
>>17431581
>>play vidya

>You get to be a nerd,

doesent basically everyone play games now a days? if it makes you happy thats cool, keep doing you, but isnt it more of a pleb hobby now than something for nerds? like literally every guy i know plays games.
>>
>>17431763

What you're doing is no different than sitting down at the end of a hard day of work and watching TV. I don't blame you for doing it. Good for you. You feel fulfilled.

OP doesn't. OP is depressed. He wants a hobby that will make him less depressed. Video games are a stress reliever, not an actual hobby. The best way out of OP's listlessness is by picking up something more productive. I suggest he learns how to draw and/or paint, perhaps teaches himself some music theory and an instrument and start composing, perhaps go out and start exercising more (cures depression alarmingly often), rather than sitting in front of a mindless video game.
>>
Model planes/tanks, surfing, flying, drawing, yardwork
>>
>>17431792
That shit might work in prison. But, in the free land he can just play video games instead.

>>17431212
pick up a video game.
>>
>>17431819
video games are a pretty useless skill though. if op is depressed, he should invest his time into something rewarding. once he has completed the game, he will be like "what was the point". all the neets you get on here that want to kill themselves are like this because they chose to play video instead of doing something worthwhile
>>
>>17431819
its alright for you yo say "meh, play video games". you're more content with your life.
>>
I play video games or hang out with a couple of friends. It's sort of depressing from an outside perspective but I'm in the best mental health of my life.
I also get over shit quickly so that probably helps. Dwelling on negative things is for suckers.
>>
>>17431856
you think i've always been content? No. But I have always played video games.

from being 300 lb fat tub of fat high school lard to the 200 lb successful adult and even back when I was just out of diapers for reference.
>>
go for a walk. drop by a friends or relatives unannounced. get drunk. shit like that

other than that im watching youtube, playing video games or jerking off to porn.
>>
>>17431873
and you have never taken into consideration that you have become successful due to having other things in your life? op playing video games obviously isnt going to help him. nothing wrong with playing video games as a hobby but its not for the likes of op. and anyways, video games is the biggest pleb hobby now, im sure op already play games or has considered playing them. its like telling someone asking for films suggestions and then saying "Start wars".
>>
>cooking/baking
>rock climbing gym and regular gym
>playing vidya
>playing piano (learning Zelda songs atm)
>ballet
>reading
>unicycling
>>
>>17431212
league of legends, music, concerts, 4chan, working, playing with my cat, shopping, visitng friends houses, funny videos. visitng manhattan
>>
Recording music, albeit not very well written
Learning new languages
Writing. Random shit most of the time
Watching and pretentiously analysing sports
