I´m peaceful as fuck, not necessarily cowardly. I´m even calmer, don´t raise voice (it´s quite soft) and don´t talk very much unless I really have something important-necessary to say. I barely even show any anger but erupt every so often. I think I can be firm. Am I completely unsuitable to work in law enforcement? I do like action but am totally unimpressed all the time

Can you handle going to a scene where a kid committed suicide? Or where a woman was beaten to a pulp by her husband, or where an a video has you fishing a toddler out of a pool? It's mentally punishing with the shut you see, it's not all just tickets for speeding and drugs.

Accident not video
>>
>>17427521
Actually I think I can handle that, but have harder time dealing with angry people and arguing with these type of people cause I just don't see the point in wasting the energy on this. I can't get worked up over disputes

Can you defuse a situation? That's key in most situations. Sometimes there is no calming them down and you will have to get them in cuffs for your safety and theirs. Always try to defuse the situation first, keeping in mind that a cop will almost always get the situation to heat up.
>>
are you ready for a whole generation of lazy faggots to generalize and hate you for no reason?
>>
I would say no tbqh.
I had a cousin who was a cop and said there is an implied quota as a cop. If you aren't making arrests or giving out tickets, the chief thinks you arent doing your job. Are you willing to give out tickets for a double parked car despite that single mother begging that she was just buying milk for her toddler. Or arresting the father who non agressively entered a house just to see his child after his wife kicked him out. You will have to be the bad guy several times. Also, even as a non combative person, you need to show confidence and control of a situation, especially when it comes to like a public argument or domestic violence incident. Like assess control of the situation. Police work i'm told is like 80% paperwork and standing around waiting for calls. Its not really the way its portrayed on TV.

That I admit i don't think I have much experience or skill in it. can I learn it before I become a cop or is it something that can come/get better with experience?

>you will have to be the bad guy several times
I can live with this

>you need to show confidence and control of a situation, especially when it comes to like a public argument or domestic violence incident. Like assess control of the situation
THIS I may have trouble with. Do you think my tendency to be the listener, speak calmly (plus soft voice)and not become agitated or visibly incensed may diminish the appearance of firmness and authority? One of my friends' family is a cop and she is quite outspoken and firey

Experience is the only thing that will get you any ability really. Do some studying as well, undrstanding of basic concepts always helps no matter what you're striving for.
>>
>>17427607
No, just be prepared of having to get stern with someone, push comes to shove having to strong arm them as well.
>>
>>17427483
You sound like you might make a good police de-escalation specialist.

I'm actually more interested in police patrol at the moment at least, I don't have that much psy and communication/interpersonal skills for deescalation maybe in the future if I make it.

I don't know I just see a lot of local cops who seem to become worked up and defensive with stubborn/defensive people but I guess they deal with a lot of complaints and frustrated people. I'm not sure if not being fit for this type of job I could still be somewhat fit at least for patrolling and street crime prevention/control
