Also, I really don't get her. Everything was so great until this point, I don't know. She started saying how she's a terrible person, coming up with her own trivial problems that she made up herself, various stupid shit in general. I just was there for her, to help her get through it.

It's almost like she enjoys feeling bad? But with me, she had little to no problems to deal with. She kept saying how safe she feels with me, but when she's on her own, it's suddenly terrible. I don't know, she seems to get along just fine, after a month of almost no contact from my side.

I just think I didn't do anything wrong, well, until that point I basically told her to fuck off if she doesn't love me.

On some level you realize you have some power over her, being that it was you who ended it and you are the one who decides whether to get back together. That's some manipulative bs you need to watch out for - don't get used to using people's feelings against them. If you get used to it you'll ruin your chances for a happy life with the next person you fall in love with. Cut contact. She will do things to reach out or to get your attention because she's hurting. Let her hurt, ignore it. It'll heal. You'll both move on.

I felt like I was cheated, betrayed. Empty. A part of my heart broke. I think my reaction was just. We didn't live together yet anyway.

Anyway, you guys are still right. Spent the whole night thinking about it. Gonna tell her we won't be seeing each other anymore.
I'm sure it will end alright, I'm going through the worst part of it and that's always hard.

On the plus side - I am very motivated and concentrated on anything I do.
I'll hit the gym like I always wanted to - I'm fine with being alone, but at least I'll use this experience to improve myself.

My guess is that she was abused - this is the same pattern of behavior that abuse victims often show: anxiety, lack of self-worth, requiring validation from exterior sources, etc.

I've experienced the same thing with my first ex. I white knighted hard, thinking that I would be her rock and help her through everything - in the end I found out that it wasn't the right way to go about it. It fucked me up for a little while, but I'd like to think that I picked up the right lessons from it.
