Should I be worried if most of my dad's side of the family (including him and a close cousin) ended up with depression? I'm 19 if that means anything.
Stuff can get me down pretty easily, but I never stay sad for too long.
Sorry in advance if I'm being stupid, I don't know jack shit about this kind of stuff.

besides, at this point we don't know to what degree depression is heritable. It could be not very important compared to environment and such.
I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Depression is not something you inherit. Think about the reasons those people in your life became depressed, do you personally have any reason to be depressed? If you do ever end up depressed it's better to find the source in actual problems rather than just say "Well, dad had depression." Other wise you would just be depressed your entire life.

My cousin told me that i might end up getting depressed like she did because "it's in our genes". That just worried me but it seems that's not true.
Reason to be depressed? All my friends moved away for college and now I'm pretty alone. I don't know how to make friends so it's been a lonely first year of community college. I literally don't know anybody.
But I'm a introvert so it doesn't bother me too much. occasionally I feel really lonely, but not all the time. I should probably fix that sometime..
Other than that though, not really. My life is fine.

Your are confusing depression with clinical depression. Yes, anyone can experience depression brought on by life experiences, but clinical depression is not caused by outside forces. It is a psychological disorder where you are depressed for seemingly no reason because you have have chemical, hormonal, and/or neurological problems.
The more research that is done, the more we are finding genetic links to clinical depression and other related disorders.
