Volunteer or look for some sort of activity club (try meetup) if you just want to make friends. I'm a competent gamer and I am not shy or afraid to talk to people so I have a lot of "friends" from that, some of whom are local.

If you're looking to date, try online dating. If you're at all reasonably attractive and have your life together, you'll get attention. If you don't have a spine you should take things fairly slowly since a lot of the single women at that age are bottom-of-the-barrel. Last thing you want is to jump into bed with someone kind of shitty and then feel like you're obligated to them.

Lol, I painfully feel this and I'm an unemployed female in my 20s. I'm just praying getting a job will cure my loneliness. Had a boyfriend of years and lost all mutual friends as I let him just essentially have it all, pushed everyone away.

You'll have something to do together, you'll have something you care about in common, and it's simple to say "Want to get a Coke?" at the end of the day.
