I really want to start doing some innawoods stuff and have had this idea for awhile. I have a forest in my backyard that I would love to go into, clear out a space, and make a camp/ shelter in it. Ive asked around and the general consensus is that I can do so without getting in trouble. Ive been told its "common ground". I live in TN and I have not found anything online that is a definite yes or no. Am I allowed? Would I get in trouble, if found? pic related, the forest looks a bit like this, but with more foliage and the tree are closer together.
It should be fine as long as you dont throw around too much litter or break/change anything in the forest

Nothing like that, though in order to clear out a space, some trees and other stuff would have to go in order to have the materials and space for what I have in mind. The only thing I'd have would be my tools and whatever I bring to make a adequate living space.
Also, how would I go about finding out if the land is owned? I doubt it because it's nothing but forest, though you never know.
