I have a ticket for $200 in Chicago for skipping toll booths. I have never driven on a highway that has had toll booths. I honestly didn't know anything beyond you pay them to get passage.
There were 5 or 6 lanes, and 3 of them were toll booths; I just thought you had to pay if you were going to exit.
>broke ass fuck
>due in 3 days
>live two states away
I really don't think I can contest it under just a lack of knowledge about toll booths, but I really can't just throw $200 away.
My dad offered to help, but he's also been not taking rent out of my account for a few months because I'm so broke.
Can I/Should I contest it, or stop bitching and pay it?
Ignorance won't excuse you. You have to no choice but to pay.
Call the phone number on the citation, be polite af, explain your naivety, ask if there's anything you can do to get the fine reduced.

I'll try when the offices are open.

I would think if I contest it that it wouldn't be a total dismissal but, at least, some lenience.
