first thing i did was buy a bed bug mattress sheet thing so they couldnt get in or out. then i moved my bed so it was a foot away from my walls. then i bought raid bed bug killer.
id spray the area around my bed each and every night before bed.
bed bugs can of course crawl to your ceiling, then fall down upon you, but afterward they generally try to retreat. they will get killed by the chemicals on their way down O they will hide within the bed stuff. becuase of your sheets they wont be able to hide eaisly and you can murder them every day.
you can also consider throwing away the bed frame you currently have and instead getting a very simple metal frame. supposedly they cant crawl up it, plus it'd be really easy to kill them all without many hiding places for em.
if you have the resources, move.

I have not had them, and I have lived in VERY sketchy apartments, I think my part of the world does not have them as bad. The way you get rid of them in apartments is pretty expensive from what I hear (and the landlord needs to do it to the entire building in one go)
The way YOU get rid of them is moving to a new apartment. Also watch what stuff you bring to the new apartment as you may just carry the bed bugs over.
Getting a bed bug cover on your mattress helps but that is more of a preventative measure.
