You have a pretty vast price range from those two vehicles. It's hard to believe that those are the cream of the crop to be quite honest.

The mustang seems overpriced to me, especially for a V6.

The Volvo sounds like the most bang for the buck.

But, truthfully with the kind of money I imagine you have to spend looking at a 4,000 car, there's got to be a much better option for you.

If you don't care about looking cool, and just want something functional, look at minivans. They fall in price quickly.

One problem with older cars is the plastic parts - and there are a lot of them- are starting to fail, and most dealers don't carry parts for them anymore. I had a low-mileage '96 Ford Thunderbird I had planned to keep forever, but computer chips and plastic gears in the windows were starting to fail, and the only place to find parts was the junkyard- and those parts were old, too.

Toyota parts are widely available cheap. I just sold my 2002 Corolla for thousand a bucks to friend with 378K miles. Nothing wrong with it, sold cuz the HOA fags we're being autistic about me parking in my driveway. On any given day how many Corolla's and Camry's do you see on the road?
