I’ve got an acquaintance that I knew from about 4 years ago and was pretty good friend with then. He’s Chinese and helped me a lot when I was in Beijing, not to mention that I was his friend while he was here in the States. We kind of dropped out of contact years ago and suddenly he’s contacting me online again as if we were never separated. I won’t go into why unless you guys want to know or feel it’s relevant, but I’m not really interested in continued correspondence with him.
Should I just ignore him? Block him? I don’t want to seem overtly rude and I’m instead hoping that contact between us just kind of withers away without it looking like it’s my fault. But do you think it’d be better to just tell him straight up that I’m not really interested in talking with him anymore, then cease all contact?

tl;dr burn out or fade away?

I think its important to know why anon. That pretty much brings it all into context. Second id suggest fade away. Some people just want to check in. No malice.
