I have a friend who constantly, as in, at least once a day, says things like,
>I'm about to read the ancient manuscripts of the Ottoman empire!
>I'm about to practice my Arabic, by writing Arabic poetry! (he is studying Arabic for about a year.)
>I'm going to write an essay about this or that highly academic topic!
He's a sweet kid, but he's a freshman in college who has literally taken ONE course on this topic. He constantly tries to explain things about these topics to me, despite the fact that I have completed my major in this study already, and I am from a country he loves explaining to me.
This habit of his is incredibly frustrating. Is what he doing called bragging? What should I do when I feel annoyed by him?
>pic sort of related, this guy deserves to brag about his amazing carrots.

You make a carrot big, and sorry it will get kind of ugly. Here's a record winning long one. They're grown in tubes.

Looks like a duck penis
He could be just really into his work, and habitually feels the need to proclaim it. I've been in college for nearly seven years, and still do this when things I really enjoy.

Sorry, I found an awesome website dedicated to carrots and had to share the cool pictures. Here it is, if you want to click around :) http://www.carrotmuseum.co.uk/index.html

I mean, I'm passionate about my other major (horticulture, of course!) too, but I don't talk about what *I* am doing, I share cool facts. And I don't tell about what papers and essays I will write for fun.

That's a little disappointing, to be honest. As long as you're sincerely passionate, it's always engaging to hear about.
Sounds like he is just passionate about it.
