I am dating a Jehovah's witness in secret. She's a really sweet girl, very loving, and willing to step outside the strict rules of her religion (this means blowjobs every day, among other fun things like weed and partying). But, her family is catching on, and she'll have to choose. Right now, she wants me to convert. This is problematic for me.
I was born and raised a roman catholic, and I have no desire to change. Catholicism doesn't limit me to dating only catholics, and it gives me a community without demanding I only make friends and socialize within that community. There are no real chances of being outcast from my church.
Her situation is entirely different. If her parents find out she's dating me, she'll be kicked out of not only her church but her home as well. If I join, I'll be faced with the exact same behavioral and social restrictions as her. This is not the life I intend to leave. All of my friends are non JW except her. My family would never convert with me. I get nothing except a safe relationship with her, but at a cost I am unwilling to pay. Maybe this makes me the wrong one from her, but still. Take into account that this is a huge lifestyle change and possibly will be quite a burden on him. He may not want to convert. Try to understand that it is exceptionally hard for him to make that choice, and try not to think only for yourself.
