I was prescribed Clindamycin and SMZ-TMP (Sulfamethoxazole-Trimethoprim, Bactrim) for a skin infection following some kind of insect bite. I enjoy my beer and apparently the SMZ-TMP fucks your shit up if mixed with alcohol, though im finding mixed results. I'm not sure why I was even prescribed it as the Clindamycin is enough to take care of the infection, unless my doctor thinks i have MRSA or something. Can someone who has taken SMZ-TMP and drank alcohol tell me if it fucks your shit up or not? Thanks.

bro that looks like a raging infection. even if you're an inconsolable alcoholic you need to put down the bottle for two weeks. here's a link to a fairly well-researched data sheet about the negative interactions of alcohol and some antibiotics, including the sulfamethoxazole-trimethoprim you're taking.
