Hello /adv/isors,

I recently moved into a new apartment and I'm looking for advice on how to get the smell of cigarettes to go away? I've already taken off the curtains and will wash them in the washing machine, but what else can I do?

Red wine gets the smell out, poor a couple of bottles over all the soft furniture and carpets.

Stale cigarette smoke is almost impossible to get rid off. It seeps into the murals and any wooden elements. You'll have to wash and clean EVERYTHING. Then get a steam clean machine for the wooden parts and buy special paintthat seals the murals to really get rid of it

In addition to previous suggestions, spray everything made of fabric - beds, cushions, sofas, chairs, etc.

It's an outside chance, but since cigarette smoke is universally recognized as unhealthy, you might be able to get the landlord to pay for a complete deep cleaning.

baking soda on all fabric and let it sit on it for an hour before vacuuming it up.
