What is this empty feeling, /adv/? I remember around first grade or so is when I began to feel it - sometimes at night, when I would go to bed, I'd just feel like I forgot to do something important.
I'd go over everything I did that day, and wouldn't be able to think of anything else I wanted to do. But the feeling would still be there, like some kind of emptiness in my chest. I would be restless and uneasy, and have trouble falling asleep. But the next morning, I will have totally forgotten about it.
I couldn't figure out where the feeling came from, and as time went on, I got better and better at ignoring it. Now I'm 18 and I only just realized I still feel exactly the same as I did back then. It's like something is missing, like I'm forgetting something, but I don't know what it is. During the day, all the distractions take my mind off the feeling, but if I get a quiet moment here or there, it shows itself again.
Is this still the ongoing babby's first existential crisis that started in first grade? Is this something every human feels? Am I depressed? Do I need to find some kind of purpose in life? Or, will this feeling eventually go away on its own?
I don't know. Can anyone else relate to feeling this way? Did you ever figure out the cause?

Have you tried hydrating yourself ? I've read that you get the feeling you forgot something when you're thirsty/don't drink enough.

That's a weird idea but I have indeed tried that for an unrelated reason (was feeling tired all the time). I think I get enough water nowadays, I drink probably 3 liters per day.
