guys
i need your /adv/
does anyone of you have experience with fighting procrastination?
every day at work i am sitting most of the time surfing the internet. i am a programmer so i have plenty of chances to find excuses why i cant finish projects and why it does take longer than expected. then i try to motivate myself to work for at least one hour without distraction but just a few minutes later i find myself back at youtube, watching videos or some news site reading news or posting in their forum in some stupid internet fights. sometimes i just waste hours reading wikipedia and so on.
i will never get ahead with this performance, never get any promotions or just a rise.
wat do
You just do it.
Make a schedule and stick with it for one week.
Just one week.
DO NOT break the schedule during this time. No matter how much you want to.
Even if it feels like you are going to die from it, don't break from the schedule.
Have every hour of your day planned out. Make sure you make time for leisure (2-3 hours is good).
After a week, reflect on it. Did you notice a huge improvement? How do you feel about yourself? Does the schedule need tweaking?
Reflect on it, adjust it and go one more week. Keep doing this, you will make a better schedule each week, always improving.
