So I have the opportunity to go on a date with a really cute Japanese girl who immigrated to my country not long ago.

We've talked online quite a bit, and she's really nice, and seems like the right kind of person for where I am in my life, but my main concern is her English - it's not that great. We've been able to maintain a conversation online (mainly basic stuff about interests/jobs/families, etc.), and I wouldn't say her language proficiency is a lot worse than some people whose first language is english, but I'm worried we won't be able to have an actual conversation in person.

I'm worried that we'll go out and just sit there, unable to actually talk to one-another, and that maybe some humour won't translate, or I'll tell an anecdote or want to discuss something, but she won't understand. Any ideas on how to make conversation easier with the language barrier if I go out with her?

i have two japanese female friends coming in to visit next week. you're lucky she has interest in you. mostly just talk and keep it simple. if she has interest in you she'll just be constant giggles and stuff. cute stuff works best. if you're finding its going okay be more assertive and physical, you'll find out right away where you stand

I've been with an Indonesian girl for 8 years. You will just have to accept that some of what you say will be lost on her and it will never change unless you are willing to learn her language. My gf has been in the country for 15 years and while she is fluent, there are cultural and country-specific items she just doesn't understand.
