What I did, aside from refusing to leave the room while she was euthanised and finding a place near home to bdig her grave and bury her, was to have some photos around of her after a while. I also keep some shed fur and whiskers in a small clear plastic box, kindof like a shrine. First anniversary, I got a small wildflower that was growing out of where I buried her and it's still here on the container, dried out but solid, after almost 3 and a half years. You can even visit every year and have a chat with her, I always end up crying. Or you can just say a few words sometime when you're along in your room. As long you let it out in some form, it's helping you heal, it's what humans do.
