I "stopped" playing a few times and always came back.
Should I cut contact with friends that also play LoL?
The other problem is that when I'm depressed and tired I feel like I have zero energy to be productive and yet I play LoL. So what do I do when I'm depressed and don't want to play LoL?
When you are feeling down, how do you start being productive/learn something?

You can try hitting random articles on Wikipedia and whichever ones peak your interest at the moment read about them. Keep reading and since Wikipedia articles branch out into other articles, just turn it into as long a reading sessions as you can on random topics until you get bored of that. It's a start.

A good way to compromise on giving up your account but not giving it up is let a friend of yours use your account to do what they want with.
I say this is beneficial because it will distance you from the element of your account/online identity (not sure exactly how that shit works) slowly as opposed to you deleting it or pretending it's not there. This way you're aware that it is there and you can maybe see what it becomes and as more time passes you will slowly become detached because it your mind will realize it's not your account anymore and soon you might not even want to go back to it.
