I wouldn't do it. I barely stayed sane going to church every Sunday with my wife's family for a couple years even though they knew I was an athiest.

I consider myself to be an agnostic, but in practice I might as well be an atheist. I don't mind spending time in most churches though. The only ones I really have a problem with are fundamentalists or extremely right wing, otherwise churchgoers tend to be pretty friendly and genuinely try to be good people. This is usually true even of non-Christian religions.

Helps a lot sitting through a service if the preacher doesn't suck.
