/adv/, I've gotten terribly obsessed with a girl recently. Now, this isn't about dating advice. Would I qualify for anxiety medication?
I've had this issue for about two months now.
I can't focus because the thoughts are invasive.
My motivation is shot into the fucking ground.
Whenever she shows up at my work, I'm wracked with nerves and I become more irritable with the people around me.
Because I'm obsessed and can't get my work done, I've been considering suicide recently just to get out from between this hard place and a rock. I've lost my joy.
I've been trying to get around this issue, but it's just not working out. I've been refusing to see any therapists or try for any medication because I wanted to avoid that route altogether, but I'm starting to be concerned for my own well-being. I know, I know: "Stop being such a bitch", and I'm REALLY trying to do that, but I'm starting to fear I might actually try to kill myself before I can muster that internal will.
Recommendations?

If you talk to a psychiatrist they'll probably start you on an ssri. Or tell you to fuck off. Depends on how you explain it and your life. If you can get it out that it's a reoccurring theme with random girls and you want to do something but just really can't then yea. You'll get something. If you say it's just about ""her"" youll get kicked to the curb.
But it might not be a benzo if that's what you want.

It's really not about the girl. I know that's some crazy whacko shit I'm doing. I just want to feel better than I'm feeling right now. For that, anything to cure this shitty state.
I've lost my appetite too, but maybe that's a plus. It would be nice to be otter mode...

I've talked with some friends about it. I'm in pretty deep though and I can't shake off the delusion, no matter how many times I've brought it up. And believe me, I've brought it up with several people multiple times.

Well, then you may not be talking to the right people. Don't get me wrong, you came here wanting answers, and that's good. But you may just need to take a deep breath, and learn how to meditate. Seriously.

I've considered meditation before. It was nice to just kind of be absent minded for about 10 minutes, but the issues resurfaced anyway. It can also be hard to do that in the middle of work.
I think it has some potential though if I make it habitual though. I'll give that a shot if I don't give biting the bullet a shot first.
