People suddenly stop talking

How do you deal with people leaving?

I'm fully aware a man should be prepared to endure false friends and what not. However, it's happening too much, too fast, and for no reason. People are just stopping contact with me. I read all conversations prior to them stopping talking, and i never find a reason. They just suddenly lose all interest, and stop talking. Recently, an old family friend, who helped me a lot by her own choice(she's the same age as my mother), just stopped talking to me. I was never clingy, i never am. But sometimes if i don't start conversation, people don't.

This woman was always so lovely, and suddenly, she avoids talking, avoids meeting(i only offered once, and she just kept changing the dates, now she didn't even bother, she just went with ''I'll tell you when i can'') and whatnot.

This isn't the first case. People , usually females—but not just them—just have been stopping talking. I'm not clingy, i'm not overly feely, i don't even mention my problems, and i always can maintain a good conversation in person. But whenever i'm not in person, people just stop engaging, and like in this situation, they avoid contact altogether. What is happening? Am i failing to keep friends?What am i doing wrong? How can i keep friends? It is feeling like i suddenly know nothing about friends at all.
