I'm Asian. I know that for whatever language I learn, I will never impress locals as much as, ugh, say, a non-Asian person learning an Asian language. This is simply due to the fact that some Chinese kid adopted by a family can speak the local language fluently. And you know, it doesn't matter what language I learn or how many languages I learn - I'll just be "another Asian who happens to speak that language". How to feel better about this?

Dude, you're bilingual.
That's an awesome skill to have, no matter what your race is.
I'm personally impressed by anyone who can competently speak more than one language.
It's great for your brain (has been shown to make you less likely to get alzheimer's and other memory related issues later in life), and looks fucking fantastic on a job resume.
Cheer up.
