So I'm a specialist in the Army Guard.
Long story short we are doing annual training at our home station. I live 45 mins away and have been driving home everyday against orders BUT I had gained permission to go home every 3 days to prepare meals to bring in to avoid eating MREs at lunch. I'm prediabetic so that's a no go.
I stayed one night but after realizing the food wasn't going to cut it(breakfast and dinner) I started driving home to prep meals and live the lifestyle prescribed by my doctor.
After 4 days they caught on and are now threatening administrative action and putting me on every detail.
Personally I think it's bullshit because they'll let parents go home to be with their children but make me jump through hoops when I have a medical condition.
Do I have a leg to stand on guys? I know I should have went about this differently but I felt like they had made as big of a compromise as they were willing to make.
Go to a MTF and request a letter regarding your medical situation. They might help you.

Pal, you are at the mercy of your superiors
Grovel
National guard is shit. Completely useless when deployed. I'd rather have a troop of boyscouts backing me up on deployment. At least they might have survival skills.
fuck the guard. i hope you realize your mistake. the military doesn't give a shit about what you want or what's best for you. suck it up until your contract ends and for christ's sake don't re-up.

OP here. I was active. Trust me I know.
I really thought they wouldn't catch on. Fucking retards everywhere.
I was on the fence about joining, but heard you have to pay with your wisdom teeth.
Oh well, guess I'll live life wondering what it would have been like.
