Don't bother with articles or most contemporary novels, those are intentionally dumbed down. Read classics or books what make an argument for some kind of scientific or political theory.

Study for the LSAT, even if you don't plan to take it.

If you want to get better at something, you just practise. Make constant effort to improve yourself... for example, if you want to be more analytical, you just have to spend a lot of time analysing things and improving your thought processes. Read classics of philosophy, then make philosophical arguments to analyse both your and their thoughts; learn different forms of math, and keep pushing your understanding until you break, then keep learning (maybe even try to develop new ideas!); learn about programming and write complex programs.

You expand your mind by using it.

Seriously this. Doesn't matter how intelligent/clever/whatever the fuck you are, no one likes that dickhead who does things just because it's what "x kind if people do". Be genuine. Even if that's not your end goal, it'll just make things much easier on your self if you have a genuine interest in your reading material.

Nobody's born that way. You learn how to think via practicing your critical thinking skills. Go read a bunch of dead philosophers.
