My girlfriend's family invited me to come along with them to go skiiing in Valentine's. As awkward as I feel it would be I said sure knowing I would look bad if I said no.
I've met and am on okay terms with her siblings, some cousins and her mother, but her whole extended family is coming along with her aunts and uncles and cousins I've never seen before. Not to mention her dad who's conservative af and thinks she's too young to be dating (she's 18 I'm 19, just a couple months apart).
I'm freaking out guys. How do I not look like a disgusting spaz in front of them and help me keep my dignity? I only need to last those few hours
Two words: man up. Earning respect in this situation requires only giving zero fucks the entire time. Just keep telling yourself that literally nothing they think matters. Whatever else they remember about you, the most important impression they have to get is that you were comfortable and unfazed. You're just there to ski with your girlfriend.
Say as little as possible. Be very laid back and do not try to impress anyone. Try to stay busy skiing.
