I think that guys who try to impregnate women without the woman's knowledge are either doing it for a personal sense of power/potency, or because they're trying to ensure that the woman is locked into a relationship with them. It's actually not as uncommon as you think. I've been with a few guys who told me they wanted to knock me up. My current bf (2 years together) has actually purposefully timed our sex and when he comes inside me around my cycle just to get me pregnant.
