OP half the battle of getting a job is networking. Ask your friends and family for possible open positions, and get a good referral.

Thats it right there. You need to answer the question. If you are unable to answer simple questions about yourself, it raises concerns that you can think on your feet, which is required in any job.

You have SOMETHING you could talk about. Some popular topics for HS students:
>I babysit
>I do _____ activity while maintaining good grades
>I volunteer
>I help out with HS sports games, volunteering doing concessions
>I take care of my ailing Grandma
>My parents work a lot, so I maintain and manage the house

I'm interviewing for an entry level job and I can't believe that people can't answer these soft ball questions. One of my questions is basically "What are your skills/What are your qualities that make you a good candidate?" and I get teenagers all the time that panic and just say "nothing" or "i don't know". If you can't articulate one good thing about yourself, it shows a lack of trying and a lack of maturity.

Its not really about training people. Almost every job understands that training is required and will train the right candidate. Not being able to answer interview questions is concerning, because it raises questions about how you will represent the company when not under direct supervision. It makes me think the person is not resourceful, and will get stumped easily on the job. No one minds training someone; nobody wants to have to babysit an employee all the time.

The art of bullshit. It gets you far in the application process.

Construction. If you have 2 working arms 2 working legs, and can show up and bust ass for 8-12 hours you will be hired if you don't seem like a piece of shit. Bonus points if you can pass a wizz quizz and don't have any felonies.

You will be the bitch, but you learn as you work. It is not easy money, but you will make more than in retail or food service.
