Some people consider it a turn on to keep certain articles of clothing on during sex. Sometimes it's socks. Other times, it could be boots, sneakers, skirts, ties, button up shirts, etc.

I'd say childhood issues could be a reason, either by considering feet filthy (if lived with people with feet fungi or just smelly feet) or simply by assuming they are (depends on house floor shoe policy, cleaning routine and so forth).

My suggestion, you should try legwarmers, by letting them cover the feet slightly it will probably help him transition and you'll still be able to feel with your feet or whatever. Also try talking to him, but be aware that there may be stuff he can't rationality.

My bf has something like that, but it's directed at his own feet. Has socks on 24/7 and we're in Florida. He's okay with my foot, he just finds his own foot and other people's 'weird' in a way. He doesn't wear them to bed though.
