There was never that much flash content, animation is way harder than simply simply drawing. It's just that there's just a shitload of SFM "animators" out there since it's babbies first animation program in terms of ease of use.

I think Minus8 still do flashy-eque drawings every now and then.

It's much faster to use a model and make porn, and have it look much better than anything produced with flash.

As technology improves, the better rendering the models will have. it's a win win situation

Except it all looks the same because it's just increasingly similar high realism models that all end up with similar animation styles since the creators are just mimicking real life. Well, in some cases, but still.

This type of 3D (SFM etc) will never be comparable to drawn animation.

Both of these look terrible.
If you're going to do things frame-by-frame you might as well use Flash so it at least looks clean, or if you're going for production speed ToonBoom.

Also its pretty hard to not mimic real life ya know. Pretty much all drawn animations mimic real life too. Its the easiest thing to do.
